GROSS POLLUTANT TRAP
The CleanStream™ GROSS POLLUTANT TRAP (GPT) is designed to capture both floatable and settleable material from stormwater runoff. Applications include urban developments such as car parks, Shopping centers, construction sites, service stations, streets and roadways and many other situations where polluted runoff could degrade downstream waterways.
The system is available in either the 6300 model, which is suitable for inlet pipe sizes up to 300mm or the 9450 model for inlet pipe sizes up to 450mm. The CleanStream™ GPT is an in-line system that can be manufactured to suit stormwater drainage systems constructed of a range of materials such as concrete pipe, recycled plastic pipe, etc.

CleanStream™ GPT's have been designed to provide double skimming of floatable materials and multiple trapping of settleable materials. The GPT creates a circular flow pattern as the water passes through each of the chambers slowing the flow rate and causing the water to drop its load. The multi chamber configuration is designed to progressively treat the water as it passes through each section. Chamber 1 will trap sand and gravel, chambers 2 and 3 will collect floatable material and finer silt particles.
For ease of installation the CleanStream™ GPT has been designed as an in-line component with opposing inlet and outlet. The outlet is 100mm below inlet level. The relative low overall height of the CleanStream™ GPT units makes installation more economical in applications where bedrock is encountered.
The system is supplied with a class B lid with two Class B gas tight covers suitable for pedestrian traffic. For applications in areas normally for pedestrians and only occasionally open to vehicles for delivery or cleaning purposes or in emergency and where wheel loads will not exceed 3.7 tonnes, a 200mm thick, class C trafficable lid is available.
Access to the system is provided through the gas tight covers which enables visual inspection of all chambers to determine the need for cleaning. The gas tight covers also prevent the escape of any gas or odour from the GPT as well as offering a level of security to prevent unwanted entry to the system.
While the system may effectively trap the pollutants it is essential that it be regularly serviced to ensure continued effective operation. The design of the CleanStream™ GPT enables efficient cleaning by Vacuum trucks. While the frequency of cleaning will vary with each application, it must be understood that the system should be checked on a quarterly basis and cleaned if there is a significant build up of material in any of the chambers. During the cleaning process all parts of the system are clearly visible and can be inspected to ensure that all pollutants have been properly removed and that the system is operating correctly.
