AquaBank® Fire Fighter

While the use of tanks for rainwater collection has long been part of the Australian rural scene, it is now becoming a part of the modern urban environment. Mittagong Concrete Products (MCP) has developed the AquaBank® range for the collection and
reuse of rainwater for a number of specialised applications. Many Local Government bodies now require the installation of a
dedicated water supply to be used on site during a fire emergency.

AquaBank® Fire Fighter has been specifically developed  to be compatible with the systems used by the NSW Fire Service, Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service. Emergency services require a dedicated water supply which is fitted with a 65mm STORZ outlet to enable instant connection to their apparatus.

AquaBank® Fire Fighter is available in two nominal sizes, 9000 Litres and 6000 Litres and three configurations for below ground, in ground and above ground applications. Where larger quantities of water are required it is possible to install a series of interconnected units. In addition to choosing the correct size and configuration it is essential that the system is positioned
correctly if it is to perform the desired function in an emergency. The heavy vehicles used by emergency services must be able to get within 4 metres of the STORZ outlet and the water must not be more than 4 metres below the ground level where the
vehicle is located. That is 4m + 4m - a total of 8 metres.

Each of the systems incorporate a concrete tank, an inlet filter and a STORZ 65 outlet. Below ground and in-ground systems are supplied with a 'serpentine' roof water filter while a mosquito proof 20 micron bag filter is provided for above ground
applications. The serpentine filter is a unique MCP design to help remove both floating material and finer particles from the
water entering the tank. Filters require maintenance at least twice a year to remove accumulated debris. The storage system is designed to be self circulating to prevent stagnation. The incoming water is used to flush the older water out to the drainage
system. An optional reflux valve is available for the overflow pipe to prevent drain water or vermin from entering the tank through the outlet.
AquaBank® Fire Fighter is supplied as a package that is then installed on site by a plumber.

The use of concrete tanks overcomes the disadvantages of other commonly used tank construction materials. Concrete has a very long life, it is not susceptible to fire damage, is less susceptible to flotation when installed in ground, is more stable in windy conditions and has much greater strength. Concrete offers the reliability that is essential to guarantee the availability of water when it is required in an emergency.

All components used comply with the relevant Australian Standards to ensure that the system will provide years of reliable
service. The concrete tanks used comply to Australian Standard AS/NZS 1546.1:1998 Water Collection Wells.

AquaBank® Fire Fighter is designed to offer peace of mind to people  living in fire prone areas, rural areas or areas where the town water supply needs to be supplemented in an emergency.
